I fish these mostly in size #6 and #8 and also use a yellow winged version. There is also a Black Ghost Butterfly that gets fished with success and "Spick" Eldershaw fishes an all brown version. You should never be without one.

Regardless of your preference on butt colours, tail or no tail, etc,, the GM is a fantastic fly here for both trout and Salmon.

I tie and fish the leetch in a few differnet ways,, but all are equally successful. I prefer a light sink-tip, about a 1.5 ips and always give it action on the retrieve. I fish the black version mostly but also use an all purple and an all orange ver [more]

I like to fish these on a #6 salmon iron and fish a bunch of different versions. Black, Brown, Green and Yellow for example. Some old-time salmon guys here only fish the worm.
